Hi pancakes!!
Today is my free tuesday again and to take a break from the annoying schoolwork I have to do, i'll write another post for you guys. This time in English, so foreign people can enjoy this too. I usually switch between dutch and english language, and today I was in the mood to practice my english once again. Allright, this should be about one of my great passions: collecting things.
If I had the choice I would collect EVERYTHING, it's really painfull for me to throw away something :'( but I must otherwise my room would be a dump and my mommy would go insane. And THAT is something I certainly do NOT want to happen :s hehe.
Anyway, you all know (or not) I am very keen on visiting all kinds of flee markets & vintage stores (People even made a lot off fun at me in French class when they heard I spend another weekend with my mom at the 'marché au puce' :p) Having an eye for things that are really valuble, searching for treasures, selling & buying: apparently all of these characteristics, I inherited from my mom. Only she never feels the need to storage the items, she rather is a throw-it-all-away-so-you-can-buy-it-new kinda type.
To give you an idea, I took a few pics of my current collections.
First one is: Miniature Elephants! Most of them are from markets in Belgium but I also have one from Paris (the big white one), one frum Corfu (the turqoise/gold one with a blue pearl eye which was a gift from my boyfriend) and my latest from Sicily (the tiny light blue one). The 5 bronze ones were also a gift from my boyfriend aaaw!
Second: Animal skulls & Animal dead fetus/embryos (pics on demand)! Now, before you all run away because I scared the hell out of you, you must know this links up with what I study: Veterinary School/science and most pieces I brought home from school (except for the alligator, a gift from dad)
Third: My most expensive collection so far :s, my Dodo's (by Pomellato) a line of italian jewels. I especially love the little animals which fit into charm bracelets. Each animal (and there are alot! of them) has his own message. For example I have a little golden snail that means 'mon coeur, prends ton temps'. Actually the dodo-animals are meant to buy as a gift for your loved one(s). The pieces I own were gifts from mom and dad (thanks!) except for the snail which was a present to myself :)
And last but not least, i show you my mom's collection: Ancient drawings of roses in vintage photo frames. She is obsessed with this flower cause she collect not only pics of roses but also stamps, soap, books, perfume, theacups, note-paper,...and offcouse the flower herself: the front of our house is a real rose-palace in summer and the smell is phenomenal. My mom also knows the names of all sorts of roses by hart: in dutch, english and yes Latin also. Obsessed! I told you ;)
Now tell me, what do you collect??
PS: Please send all your elephants, skulls and dodo's, who are doomed to be forgotten on your attic anyway, to La Fille. Adress on demand. Thank you very much :p
